King Island, nestled in the Bass Strait, occupies a strategic position northwest of Tasmania's main island, roughly halfway between Tasmania and Victoria. The island's golfing gem resides in its northwest corner, a scenic 45-minute drive from Currie, the largest township, and the regional airport.

Legend has it that esteemed author Darius Oliver played a pivotal role in persuading entrepreneur Duncan Andrews to transform the secluded Cape Wickham site into a golfing paradise. Thus, in 2011, the property was acquired. Subsequently, American architect Mike DeVries was enlisted to craft the links, entrusting the construction to the capable hands of contractor Programmed Turnpoint.

The initial stretch of the course weaves its way along the picturesque Cape Farewell headland, offering golfers stunning coastal views. Transitioning inland, the next eight holes navigate through sand hills and occasional limestone outcrops, providing a diverse and engaging golfing experience. As players progress, holes 14 to 18 lead towards the majestic Cape Wickham Lighthouse, with the final hole circling Victoria Cove, offering a memorable conclusion to the round.

Notable features include several short par fours at the 5th, 10th, and 12th holes, all strategically positioned along the coastline to challenge golfers with breathtaking vistas. Additionally, three of the par threes, found at holes 3, 11, and 17, boast spectacular seaside settings, their greens offering panoramic views of the rugged shoreline. The pinnacle awaits at the 18th hole, where a narrow fairway curves around a sandy bay, leading players to the home green amidst a captivating coastal backdrop.
