Tasmania Golf Trip Itinerary (5 Days) | Ultimate 2026-27 Guide

Plan the perfect Tasmania golf trip with this 5-day itinerary. Play 7Mile Beach, Barnbougle and Lost Farm with expert tips on travel, timing and experiences.

Day 1: Arrival, Straight to the First Tee

The best Tasmanian golf trips don’t ease in - they get started.

After arriving into Hobart, it’s a short transfer with us and our custom-built golf trailer to 7 Mile Beach Golf Course, where your trip begins properly: clubs out, fresh air, and your first look at Tasmania’s coastal golf.

First Round at 7 Mile Beach

There’s no better way to shake off the travel than getting straight onto the course.

Set just outside Hobart, 7 Mile Beach (designed by Mike Clayton and Mike DeVries) offers a pure links-style introduction - firm underfoot, exposed to the elements, and a great test without being overwhelming on Day 1.

More than anything, it’s about:

  • Finding a rhythm

  • Getting used to the conditions

  • Letting the group settle into the trip

And, of course, enjoying that first walk down the fairway in Tasmania.

Settle In Back in Hobart

After your round, it’s back into Hobart to check in, freshen up, and relax.

By this point, the trip has properly begun. The conversations are already flowing — about the course, the conditions, and what’s to come over the next few days.

Dinner: Hobart at Its Best

Your first night sets the tone, and Hobart rarely disappoints.

This is where the off-course side of the trip starts to shine:

  • Outstanding local produce

  • Fresh seafood

  • A growing whisky scene that’s well worth exploring

It’s a relaxed, social evening — and often one of the most enjoyable parts of the entire trip.

Why This Start Works

Going straight to golf on arrival does two things:

  • It maximises your time on the ground

  • It gets everyone immediately into “golf trip mode”

No waiting around, no lost day - just straight into the experience.

And from here, it only gets better.

Next up is Day 2, where we build on that start with another round at 7 Mile Beach Golf Course and introduce one of the trip’s underrated highlights - a stop at a winery or distillery on the way back.

Day 2: Settle In, Then Explore Beyond the Fairway

With the travel behind you, Day 2 is where the trip starts to find its rhythm.

A second round at 7 Mile Beach Golf Course gives you the chance to properly appreciate the layout - and, usually, play it a little better.

Round Two at 7 Mile Beach

What felt unfamiliar on Day 1 now starts to make sense.

You’ve seen the lines, felt the conditions, and have a better handle on how the course plays. It’s a great opportunity to:

  • Tweak your approach

  • Take on a few more shots

  • Enjoy the course without the “first round” pressure

For many groups, this second round is where the friendly competition kicks in.

A Different Pace After Golf

After your round, the pace shifts - and this is where Tasmania really adds something special to a golf trip.

Rather than heading straight back, the journey includes a stop at a local winery or distillery. It’s a chance to unwind, take in the surroundings, and experience a different side of the region.

Whether it’s a tasting, a relaxed drink, or simply soaking up the setting, it becomes one of those moments that breaks up the trip in the best possible way.

Evening in Hobart

Back in Hobart, the evening is yours.

Some groups opt for another standout restaurant, others keep it casual — but by now, the trip has properly settled into its stride. The stories are getting better, the scores slightly more competitive, and the anticipation for the next stage is building.

Why Day 2 Matters

It’s not just about another round.

  • You’re now comfortable with Tasmanian conditions

  • The group has found its rhythm

  • You’ve experienced both golf and the region beyond it

And with that foundation in place, you’re ready to head north - where the next part of the journey takes things up another level.

Day 3: The Journey North to Barnbougle

This is one of the great days of the trip - not just for the golf, but for the journey itself.

Leaving Hobart, you head north through Tasmania’s heartland toward Barnbougle Dunes - and it’s a drive that’s best enjoyed properly.

A Proper Break Along the Way

Rather than rushing the trip, the journey includes a well-timed stop at a winery or distillery.

It’s a chance to:

  • Stretch the legs

  • Enjoy a long lunch

  • Take in a bit of regional Tasmania

These stops often become unexpected highlights - relaxed, social, and a great way to break up the drive.

Arrival at Barnbougle

By the time you arrive at Barnbougle, the landscape starts to shift.

The coastline opens up, the wind picks up, and you get your first sense that you’ve arrived somewhere special.

After checking in, there’s time to settle - or, for those keen to get another loop in…

Optional: Bougle Run

For groups with energy to spare, 14-hole, par 3 Bougle Run is the perfect introduction.

Short, fun, and designed for pure enjoyment, it’s a great way to:

  • Loosen up after the drive

  • Have a few laughs

  • Get a feel for the terrain

Why Day 3 Matters

This isn’t just a transfer day - it’s part of the experience.

  • You see more of Tasmania

  • The pace stays relaxed

  • The anticipation builds for the main event

Because from here, the trip turns toward some of the best golf in the country, if not the world.

Day 4: The Main Event - Barnbougle Dunes & Lost Farm

This is why the trip exists.

After a few days of settling in, finding your rhythm, and building anticipation, Day 4 delivers what - prior to the opening of 7Mile Beach - most travelling golfers come to Tasmania for - a full day at Barnbougle Dunes or Lost Farm.

Championship Links Golf

Whichever course you play first, the experience is unmistakable.

Wide fairways, rumpled dunes, ever-present coastal winds - this is true links golf, and it rewards creativity as much as execution.

It’s a step up:

  • In challenge

  • In scale

  • In atmosphere

For many groups, this is the round they’ve been talking about for months.

A Day to Take Your Time

One of the best parts of Barnbougle is the pace.

There’s no rush. Between rounds (or after your game), there’s time to:

  • Take in the views

  • Share a drink

  • Relive the good shots (and a few bad ones)

It’s golf as it should be - relaxed, social, and played in an unforgettable setting.

Final Night Dinner

Back at the accommodation, the final dinner at Lost Farm Restaurant, looking out to Bass Strait, is always a highlight.

By now:

  • The group is fully in sync

  • The stories are well established

  • And there’s just one round left to play

It’s a chance to enjoy a great meal, a few drinks from the well-stocked wine cellar, and reflect on what’s already been a memorable trip.

Why Day 4 Matters

This is the centrepiece of the itinerary.

  • You’re playing world-class courses

  • You’re fully immersed in the Barnbougle experience

  • And the trip has reached its peak

All that’s left is one more round - and a final chance to take it all in.

Day 5: One Last Round & Departure

There’s always a mix of motivation and reluctance on the final morning.

One more round to play - but no one is quite ready for it to end.

Final Round at Barnbougle

Day 5 gives you the chance to play whichever course you didn’t on Day 4 - either Barnbougle Dunes or Lost Farm.

By now, you’ve:

  • Adjusted to the conditions

  • Found your game (or at least accepted it)

  • And are simply enjoying the experience

It’s a fitting way to finish - relaxed, unhurried, and played in great company.

Transfer to Launceston

After the round, it’s time to pack up and head to Launceston for departure.

The drive back is an easy one, and a good chance to:

  • Reflect on the trip

  • Revisit the highlights

  • Start talking about the next one

A Trip That Stays With You

What makes a Tasmanian golf trip memorable isn’t just the courses — it’s how everything comes together.

  • Seamless travel

  • Great food and drink

  • Shared experiences on and off the course

And, more often than not, it’s a trip that groups look to repeat.
